Our use of AI
How we make our videos
Buzz & Wonder is made by a small team: one human creative director working with AI agents. We use AI openly, and we want parents and teachers to know exactly where.
What AI does
| Part | How it's made | Tools |
|---|---|---|
| Research and facts | AI agents gather the facts from university extension services, government agencies and scientific papers. Every fact in the script is listed with its sources, and the science notes (what to say and what to avoid) are checked before the script is written. | Claude (Anthropic) |
| Script | Written by AI agents from those facts, to learning goals set by the creative director, who approves it. | Claude |
| Pictures and animation | Every character, set and movement is drawn in code written by AI agents, and every frame is rendered from that code. There is no AI-generated video or image in our episodes. Early style mockups were made with an AI image tool, used only as a reference for the look. | Claude, Remotion; ChatGPT images for the early mockups |
| Voices | The narrator and the characters are synthetic voices designed for the series. They are not copies of any real person's voice. | ElevenLabs |
| Music and sound effects | Composed and generated for the series, licensed for use on YouTube. | ElevenLabs |
| Captions | Taken from the script, timed to the words automatically, and checked against the narration. | Our own code |
| Checking | An AI science reviewer checks every line of the script against the fact sheet and our science rules. Automated checks run on every shot (picture, sound, loudness, captions), an independent AI review covers the finished episode, and a person watches the whole thing before anything is published. | Claude; our own code |
What people do
- Creative direction. A person chooses each topic, the learning goals, the story, the look, the characters and the voices, and approves the work at each checkpoint: the script, the first animation, the finished episode.
- Final say. Nothing is published without a person watching the whole episode first.
Our rules
- Facts come from named sources, never from an AI's memory alone. The sources are in every video's description.
- No realistic fake people, places or events. Our characters are cartoons, and they look like it.
- Made for kids: calm pacing, no flashing, no scary scenes, no products placed in the story.
